Vacation Pictures

Yep, I promised them last week, but I suck.  No, I'm adulting.  And adulting is hard.  I'm exhausted.  I have a hard time finding time to do my workouts let alone blog about them and the rest of my life.  But today we cancelled our cable which means I'm gonna have lots of time (I'm kind of addicted to tv).  I'm gonna try harder.  I swear.  I SWEAR!!!

Two weeks ago we went down to Florida for our annual spring break with my parents.  My parents, now retired, are staying down there for a little over a month so we went and visited and stayed with them.  Here's a few pictures (mostly of Anderson) from our trip.  (And if you're my Instagram friend, you've seen most of these.)

The day we flew down to Florida was Anderson's 4th birthday.  We had gotten up at 4:00am and the little dude did not take a nap all day.  He was nearly asleep as we lit up his cupcake.

Looks like he still enjoyed his cupcake, though.

Our family friend who lives in the area got Anderson a kite for his birthday.  He loved it!

This is probably my favorite pictures from the trip.  I made this my lock screen on my phone.

My boys.

Sunset at the beach.

Oh yeah.  I was on this trip too.

Weirdos.

Immediately after he got to the park he tripped over the root and landed on his face.  Hence, the dirt on his face.

These are out of order.  On the way home, the captain invited Anderson into the cockpit, let him sit in his seat, and even wear his hat.  Um, I was jealous.

It wasn't all beach (although it mostly was).  One morning Anderson enjoyed running through the fountains in the middle of Venice.

My sister is down there this week and my parents come home in a few weeks.  I have done this trip every year for as long as I can remember.  It's fun, although with a toddler now, it is a lot of work.  There's no more taking a nap on the beach.  Next year we will probably not get to go since we will be going to Boston for the marathon.  It's time for a change, though.  Maybe the break's not such a bad thing.  Either way, anything has got to be better than winter in Ohio.  Happy spring!!!

Here's a few more pictures from our trip to Mexico.  We stayed at an all-inclusive resort so we didn't do a whole lot of anything.  Lots of pool.  Lots of snorkeling.  Lots of drinking.  Lots of sleeping.  So, we didn't usually have a camera with us and there wasn't a whole lot to take pictures of, but here's a few that we did take (not race related).

Gosh Mexico.  You are so ugly.

So, so ugly.

I once caught a fish THIS BIG!!!

And I'm back!!!  It's been a great and exhausting week of lifeguard training.  I'll talk about that tomorrow.  Let's get to the continued saga of #100happydays of photos.

Day #33 - Anderson playing at the playground while we were camping.  We only camped one night with the family during the Fourth of July holiday and actually slept on the couch in my parents' trailer.  We had too much to do to spend the whole weekend camping and boy did we get a lot done.

Day #34 - Happy Independence Day!!

Day #35 - Yep, we got a lot done on our house over the holiday weekend.  We put the mirrors up in the bathroom along with some more finishing touches like towel rings and picture ledges.

#Day 36 - Don't worry.  These weren't plugged into anything.

Day #37 - These two.  (This was not staged.  I got lucky and caught Anderson hugging Sloopy.)

Day #38 - A video!  He's so funny.

Day #39 - Swim lessons.  This was at the very start of class, before he started screaming because he didn't want to follow any rules.
I can't believe I've kept up with this this long.  I'm on a role.  See ya next week!

I am now a quarter of the way through the 100 Happy Days project.  I can't believe it.  It's gone so fast.  It's been pretty easy (surprisingly).  Of course it is summer and it's pretty easy to take pictures in the summer.  Here's what's been going on the last several days.

Day 19 - The whole family went to a Japanese Steak House for dinner to celebrate Father's Day.  Anderson didn't love the fire and didn't eat the food, but the experience was fun.

Day 20 - The Bat Cave, er, The Bert Cave.

Day 21 - Father's Day

Day 22 - I watched my niece on Monday.  The three of us went to the fountains to play.  She loved the fountains; Anderson just wanted to watch the trains.  We left within the hour.  This is the best picture I could get of the two of them.

Day 23 - This is what we refer to as "Down Train" (because it's in the basement).  Who do you think enjoys the trains more?

Day 24 - Story time at the library.  Neither of us particularly enjoy it, but it's good for him and gets me out of the house.

Day 25 - Anderson fell asleep with his book on his face.  I had to pry it out of his hands.  He rolled over and said, "my book" and then went back to sleep.  I've seen his dad fall asleep more than once like this.

I Bought a GoPro

For Father's Day I bought Dave a GoPro Hero 4 Silver.  An expensive gift, I know, but it was a gift for us, for the whole family.  We have been talking about a GoPro for quite a while.  However, we aren't exactly climbing Everest or jumping out of planes so we had a hard time justifying it.  We're not exactly a family to sit at home either.  Anderson has been to over a dozen states.  He has flown on an airplane many, many times.  He's been to the ocean.  He's been hiking in Glacier National Park.  He has run his first race.  Sure, yes, maybe we're not scaling cliffs or going on The Amazing Race, but we still live a pretty fun life.  I want to record that life.  I want pictures of our great adventures.  I want Anderson to remember the amazing times he's had.  Yes, we have a swanky DSLR camera.  Yes, we have iPhones, but the GoPro is quicker and easier to carry and will be a great addition.

I got a great deal on the GoPro.  REI had a bundle of the camera, a selfie stick (originally $80ish), and a hard-sided case for the camera and it's accessories for the same price as the GoPro.  I used my REI dividends from last year as well as some money I had been saving and a gift card I had received from my birthday and only spent about $150 out of pocket.  Plus, we got a memory card at Best Buy for $50 off the original price.  Win!

We took the camera to the pool on Father's Day to test it out.  It's awesome although it's a little weird to get used to.  It's really small - smaller than my phone.  I got my finger into a lot of pictures.  And it's in a waterproof case so there is no going back and reviewing your pictures to see if you like them after taking them.  You just take and take and take and hope something turns out.  We've still got a lot of figuring out to do with it, but so far we love it.

Here's a sample of a picture we took.  I love how clear it is and how it stopped the motion of the water.

Do you have a GoPro or other camera you like to carry all the time?  What do you use it for?  What adventures are you planning that you'd like to have a GoPro?
