Pseudo Hills

The motto of the Columbus Marathon is "Fast, Flat, and Fun." The Columbus Marathon is one of the best places to qualify for the Boston Marathon because the course is really flat and because there are only a few thousand people in the marathon. Living and running in Columbus is great because there are no hills, but when you need to do a hilly running workout you need to improvise.

Yesterday was my hill workout. I went to the high school and ran 4 laps around the track, twice through the stadium steps, 4 laps around the track, twice through the stadium steps, and then 4 more laps around the track. I usually do this workout with my dad, but he's on vacation so I had to do it by myself. It was much harder by myself. I also started doing some ab exercise so maybe I can try to get rid of that flab I'm not happy with. My tummy is pretty sore today.

Tomorrow I am doing a ten mile race in my hometown. I'm scheduled to do 16 miles, though, so I'm going to run 3 miles before the race and 3 miles afterward. I'm not going to race it (he he--I say that about every race). Plus, I'm going to PR anyway. It's been years since I've done a 10 mile race and my miles/minute average for that race wasa an 8:40. I think I could run backwards at an 8:40 pace now. :)

Have a great day, y'all!

i dig on the hill improvision, and i'm sure that the stadium steps are much steeper than a normal hill would be. must be a great workout.

good luck with the 10 miler. knocking huge chunks off time off a pr is so much fun!

Best of luck for the race! And the stadium workout sounds challenging, but fun :-)

Good luck on those 10, sounds like you'll have no trouble. And thanks for the info about Muncie, I'm feeling a lot better now ;)
