Monday 7/16 - Hot, hot, HOT track workout. 5 miles.
Tuesday 7/17 - 3 miles easy on the treadmill
3 X 10 snatches at 40 pounds. I think I should have gone a little heavier on the weight.
Wednesday 7/18 - Dog and Meredith meltdown! No workouts done today.
Thursday 7/19 - 6 mile tempo run
2 mile warmup, 3 miles short tempo (goal pace 7:04, actual pace 6:59!!!), 1 mile cool down. I freakin' ate this tempo run for dinner!!!
Friday 7/20 - Rest day. Dave came home from his work trip today and I also got my parents dog for the next week. It was chaos, chaos, chaos in our household this day.
Saturday 7/21 - 18 mile long run (goal pace 8:19, actual pace 8:20). This was a pretty good run. I started a little later in the morning than I wanted and although it wasn't hot, it sure felt hot. I was melting. Regardless, it took me about 11-1/2 miles before I could get under a 8:30 average pace and knew I was going to have to work to get to an 8:19. And I did, which means my fitness and speed are on like Donkey Kong!
Total Weekly Miles - 32
With less than nine weeks to go until the marathon, I don't know if I'm burnt out or just have too much going on (you have no idea) but I don't have a whole lot of interest in running right now. There's a big part of me that does not want to do the marathon but I've already paid for it so I'll keep training. Next week I leave for London for 9 days (OMG! I'm going to the Olympics!!!), and I may not run at all for that time. I'll be walking a lot, though. Is this a mistake to not run while I'm there? I had to take that week or two off for my broken toe and found it a little difficult to get back to training. Should I take some running attire? What would you do?
Today....more sprinting.

I think you should take your running stuff. It's such a great way to get to know a city by running in it. You will kick yourself if you don't. Plus, it's way cooler there! It will be nice to get in some cooler runs.
Bring running stuff. I can show you some cool routes.
I agree...bring stuff to run in London. I found out last week that we have a friend who found bieks for us to use and we get to a long ride in Wales. If it doesnt rain. Which it probaby will....
definitely take running stuff! For one thing, it's always fun to run in a new place, but I just think being at the Olympics will be a GREAT motivator!
Hi Meredith!
I'm probably one of your newest fans. :) Love your blog. Your last story about the dog vomit was a kicker! I'm sure it was terribly stressful for you but hopefully you can look back and laugh now. :)
Best of luck to you as you continue to train for the olympics. That is so cool!
Olympics? I wish. Unfortunately, it's 'only' the Air Force Marsthon.
Awe I see. You're going to the olympics?
Hey a marathon is still fantastic! You can't say it like that because some of us serious runners still haven't done a marathon so it's really a big deal. ;)
Yes, going to the Olympics...to spectate. :)
haha got it now! :) that is way fun. Do you live around there or are you taking the biggest vacation of your life??
