I tweeted the other day (follow me @meredithjgordon) that besides my shoes, the piece of running equipment I use most often is my reflective vest. Seriously, I probably use it 3-4 times per week. It was probably the best $20 I've spent on running equipment. (You can read about the best money I ever spent on triathlon here.)

that's easy......my Garmin! I'm a data-driven individual, so being able to track my progress (or lack thereof!) is really useful!
Besides that, I just got a handheld waterbottle (Amphipod) that I love....really helpful on my long runs.
I have a lot of running favorites, but I think the best purchase (and it's kind of a combo) is audiobooks for my iPod. I get tired of music on longer runs, but give me a good book & I don't want the run to stop because I can't wait to find out what will happen next. The only catch is that books really only work for easy or long runs. Not so great for speedwork.
I bought a hot pink Orca running jacket off bonktown.com last year sometime, and I swear it is the best $15 I have spent on running gear. it has reflective stripes and a handy back pocket to store shedded gloves, hats, etc. I love that thing.
Lately, it has been a headband and some thin mittens to keep my fingers and ears from turning blue.
What vest do you wear? I usually wear an led and/or headlamp to run at night, but never a full on vest. Any suggestions on ones that are comfortable and not completely ridiculous looking?
They were expensive but I absolutly adore my Louis Garneau triathlon shoes. I probably would have spent 3x that much on cheaper shoes trying to find the right pair!
since it is technically winter, my windstopper headband would be my fav item. Ryan thinks it is silly (why not get a windstopper hat?), he asks, but I HATE wind in my ears, and a lot of the time I use it, it isn't really cold enough for a hat. Then, if it is cold enough, I can put a hat on top of it, or I can wear a visor with it if I want the sun protection. It wasn't that expensive.
