King Pin

Dave is really good at finding local things to do when we're traveling.  The day after the marathon it was raining in Boston and since we had to check out of our hotel by noon, we had to find something to do that wouldn't involve us getting wet.

So we decided to do a New England favorite: candlepin bowling.

What is candlepin bowling?  Here's the Wikipedia page for it, but it's basically bowling with tiny pins and tiny balls.  You get three balls per frame and the pins are not cleared after each ball, only after the last ball of the frame.  The scoring is very similar, although you can only pick up a spare on the second ball.  If you wipe out all the pins on the third ball, the score is only 10.

It's not that easy.  I would say Dave and I are pretty good bowlers, but we were not very good candlepin bowlers.  Maybe it had to do with the fact I could not bend my legs after the marathon.  :)

And as you can see, Dave is not any better.
