Thursday Thoughts

Thank you all for your opinions yesterday, but most of you chose wrong. :) Yes the Echos are more comfortable but I just can't part with $130 for a pair of shoes I'm not going to be wearing every day. The Echos looked great on the rack, but on my feet they kinda looked like witch shoes. So, I went with #1 from DSW.

Boy my calves look huge!!!

Now on with Thursday Thoughts. There hasn't been a whole lot of running/triathlon talk on the blog this week. Let's change that. As I alluded to earlier this week I'm taking steps to improve my diet to be able to train strong and not get sick as much. Today I got serious, or at least that's what Coach said, as I drank an Ensure with high protein after my run. And to my surprise it didn't suck.

What do you do, nutritionally, to aid with recovery?

Or for you non-runners/triathletes out there, what do you like to eat before or after a workout?

What flavor ensure? I tried the strawberry and it was beyond fucking nasty. Yep. I sported the WHOLE f word right there.

I had milk chocolate which I think tasted like liquid pudding.

with high protein? Interesting.. I've been purposely drinking the ones NOT listed as such, so as to get the 4:1 carb:protein ratio. I'd heard that was good for recovery. But I guess the extra protein wouldn't hurt!

first thing I have once I get in the door after a run, is a big glass of chocolate milk. Then usually followed by some peanut butter toast once I cool down a bit.

I always start my day with a bowl of breakfast cereal from the High Protein package I receive from Serial Cereals. That way I can get my runs and my protein without spending so much time analyzing nutritional facts at the grocery store.
